Blade Bearings

Malloy is stocking upgraded blade bearings for several applications, and it continues to grow. In addition to upgraded 2 row 4 point blade bearings we also have the next generation T-SOLID in stock for the toughest of applications.

Blade bearings fail for various reasons. It's important to understand the cause of failure and install a replacement bearing that will last longer than the first. Each application of blade bearings offered has a specific set of upgrades for the known set of problems found on that turbine.

Suzlon S88

  • OEM supplied Rev 1 bearings have failed in the field due to cracked ball spacers resulting in pitch faults and bearing seizure.

  • Upgrade to V3 blade bearing design including:

    Hardened and closed steel cage.

    Industry leading hook seal design.

Thicker rings and larger balls than V2 bearing; 45mm vs 32mm.

Eliminate crack initiation points with robust corrosion protection in bolt holes.

Only top tier US or EU ball suppliers used.

Hardware in the crate with the bearing!

GE 1.5MW SLE

  • The Pitch bearing gear teeth in the load zone are wearing away to nothing.

  • Eliminate the risk of extreme gear tooth wear and future costly change outs with this aftermarket design which incorporates induction hardened teeth.

    Larger ball than OEM specification.

Upgrade from polymer spacers to abrasion resistant steel cage.

Extended service life through optimized internal geometry that reduces risk for possible ellipse truncation at higher wind load events.

Includes industry leading hook seal design.

Robust corrosion protection in bolt holes.

Hardware in the crate with the bearing!

Vestas V82

  • Cracking outer rings, stemming from corrosion pits in the bolt holes

  • Eliminate crack initiation points with robust corrosion protection in bolt holes.

Packaged in seaworthy crate with VCI protection to protect bearings in transit and storage.

Best in class current generation seal.

Only top tier US or EU ball suppliers used.

Vestas V90/V100/V110

  • Pitch Bearing seizing due to cracked balls and broken raceway metal debris.

  • Reduce the risk of hydraulic cylinder failure resulting in dirty blades and tower.

Avoid future costly change outs due to cracked balls and broken raceway metal debris with optimized internal geometry to address ellipse truncation.

Reduce unsightly grease leakage with the greatly improved seal design.

Eliminate crack initiation points with robust corrosion protection in bolt holes.

Only top tier US or EU ball suppliers used.

Senvion MM92 | T-Solid Recommended

  • Cracking outer rings, stemming from corrosion pits in the bolt holes

False brinelling problem in the raceway

  • Eliminate crack initiation points with robust corrosion protection in bolt holes.

Packaged in seaworthy crate with VCI protection to protect bearings in transit and storage.

Best in class current generation seal.

Upgrade T-SOLID bearing available for this platform for dramatic reduction in hoop stresses and false brinelling.

Eliminate crack initiation points with robust corrosion protection in bolt holes.

Only top tier US or EU ball suppliers used.

Gamesa G83 & G87

  • Ellipse truncation

    Raceway edge wear

  • 50mm balls, largest possible for this application.

50mm ball provides 14% more raceway surface than 1.75" ball used by others

    Increased load capacity

    Reduced likelyhood of ellipse truncation

    Specially designed seal

Seals on this platform are known to be pushed out due to high pressure. This bearing has a seal with patented design that allows it to hold up to 5 bar of pressure to prevent this failure.

Highly flexible lips maintain seal integrity at the high deformations found in large rotor diameter turbines.

Balls supplied only from qualified US and EU suppliers.

There are hundreds of balls in a pitch bearing using balls from 2nd or 3rd tier suppliers is not an acceptable risk to take. This has lead to premature blade bearing failures from cracking balls

Each bearing is wrapped in VCI foil and packaged in seaworthy wood crate.

Prevent corrosion initiation during transportation or storage.

Protect bearing surfaces and seals from damage during transportation and handling.

Integrity of critical spares is extremly important.

Required hardware in the crate with the bearing.

Simplify project planning and reduce freight cost by getting all of the hardware inside the bearing crate all at the same time.
